Half Moon Bay

Half Moon Bay is a small coastal town with a few shops in their historic downtown and several quality restaurants. Most of the attractions are around or outside the downtown itself including Princeton by the Sea and the boat docks. There are many beaches, quality golf, scenic drives, lighthouses, and other historic towns nearby. Half Moon Bay is most famous for their Pumpkin Festival that will be revived after Covid. The pumpkin growing contest weighs in pumpkin entrants at over 2,100 pounds, the world record being around 2,700 pounds. If you have a little extra time, especially in the summer months, I recommend driving from Silicon Valley over Highway 84 rather than Highway 92, through the towns of Skylonda, La Honda, and San Gregorio. If you are coming from San Francisco, cut over to Highway 1 rather than using Highway 280 and Highway 92.
