Vidovich Winery is located at the very top of Montebello Road with expansive views of Silicon Valley. It borders Montebello Preserve (check with MPROSD) to see if they still allow combination access to the Montebello Road parking lot. The Vidovich family has been an icon in Silicon Valley for four generations. Easily over 100 years. They have farmed lands mostly in Cupertino and Sunnyvale, growing apricots, prunes, and cherries. They later became successful land developers.
The Vidovich Winery tasting room is included on this website along with two other wineries on Montebello Road, including Ridge and Picchetti. I like starting at the top of the mountain, with Vidovich, and work my way down.
As of now, their tasting room is open on Saturdays only and reservation are required. The Vidovich wines are excellent, and I describe them as being robust and full bodied, others say they are elegant and complex.
The soil on the mountain is a convoluted rocky limestone aided in development by the nearby San Andreas Fault. They produce all Cabernet Sauvignon wines and have some field blends (rows of vines that are planted with several varieties and not to a single grape variety.)
You can purchase Cabernet wines from 2007 to 2013. Wines range from $65 to $136.
