I rarely includes tours on this website, but I just love what Tommy John’s Wine Tours has done. Although two wineries can be a full day, Tommy John offers tours with three or even four wineries. I recommend sticking to three or less. His tours include all my favorites, not just for the wine but even more for the scenery, the stories, and he does the driving.
There is no reason to drive five hours to Napa when you have superb wineries within a few miles of Silicon Valley. I often cluster Vidovich, Ridge, and Picchetti wineries all together as they are on the same stretch of Montebello road. Then I cluster Savannah Chanelle, Mountain Winery, House Family Vineyard, and Cooper Garrod Winery. If your near Portola Valley ask Tommy John about the newly open tasting room of Neely Wines.
Open reservations at the wineries are not always available and that’s where Tommy John’s Wine Tours helps make the reservations and can substitute the best alternative. If you are going above Los Gatos, I like Regale and Testarossa, with Tommy John selecting a third from his list of fine Summit Road wineries… or a combination he selects from Wineries of the Santa Cruz Mountains.
This is a great way to go wine tasting and where ever he brings you, he will make the day memorable and hassle free. He does it all.
