Rodin Sculpture Gardens

Rodin Sculpture Gardens are located at the Cantor Art Center and has a unique cross section from different time periods, cultures, and art styles. The Cantor does not cater to one style or era. You will find 20th century paintings next to early pottery from Mexico.

The variety in this Museum is refreshing from typical single-themed museums. They have a permanent exhibition as well as current and past exhibits that you can find on their website . Next door to the Cantor Art Center is the Anderson Collection. Both museums are free, but you must make a reservation online to get your ticket nevertheless.

You will find some smaller works of Rodin inside the museum as well as a large display in the outdoor Rodin Sculpture Garden. This is the second largest Rodin collection next to the Musee Rodin in Paris. The sculptures are authentic but not necessarily the original cast.

Rodin sculptures are limited to only 12 casts total. For example, the “Gates of Hell” sculpture in the garden in one of only four others in the world. Very remarkable to see these up close where you can even touch them. Guided tours are available at the Rodin Sculpture Gardens by reservation on Fridays and Saturdays. This is one of the many attractions on the Stanford University campus.
