Roaring Camp Railroad has been one of my favorites for over 50 years. This is one of the best managed and marketed attractions in the Bay Area along with the Winchester Mystery House. They have seasonal theme events throughout the year, including a blue grass festival.
The “Redwood Train” brings you on a close-up excursion through the beautiful coastal redwood trees. You are so close to the trees that you can almost touch them. Then there is the famous steam engine train ride that takes you to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.
As a child we would take the Roaring Camp Railroad open-air train to the Boardwalk, spend the day, then take the train back. I have also attended several corporate events at their facilities. I remember the ease of parking, the large open areas, and the excellent management. This is a great attraction for children and adults.
