Montara Lighthouse is in a scenic ocean setting 25 miles south of San Francisco. This lighthouse is also a youth hostel and has two private rooms ( A & B) that can sleep six. They also have the Surfside House that sleeps up to 12 and the Sea Lodge that can accommodate up to 16.
Dorm rooms were closed during Covid. Check for their re-opening. All the rooms are near the cliffs overlooking the ocean and the beach.This lighthouse originated on the east coast and was dismantled and ship out west.
The drive from the Montara Lighthouse to the Pigeon Point Lighthouse is a beautiful 28 miles with recommended stops in Princeton by the Sea, San Gregoria, Bean Hollow Beach, Pescadero, and Harley Goat Farm. Montara Lighthouse and Pigeon Point Lighthouse are the only two lighthouses between San Francisco and Santa Cruz.
