I highly recommend “Monterey Bay Whale Watching” leaving from Fisherman’s Wharf. At the very bottom of their website pages, you can click on “Sightings” to see what they are currently spotting in the area. Monterey Bay Whale Watching captains are marine biologists and experts at whale watching, so this is also an educational tour, not just a boat ride.
I am a real fan of guided tours, and this tour has always been an A+ experience for me. You have a good chance of seeing humpback whales, dolphins, killer whales, and gray whales. Seasons are January through March (gray whales and dolphins) and April through December (humpback whales, blue whales, orcas, and dolphins). Reservation required. $65-$53 0n weekdays and $71-$60 on weekends. Also, don’t miss a visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
