I always enjoyed going to Happy Hollow Park and Zoo when my children were young. It has some nice kids rides, good climbing structures, and a decent variety of animals. We especially enjoyed the crooked house and the Redwood lookout.
The rides and play structures are separated by a short walk from the zoo area. There are lots of open areas and there is plenty room for picnics. The food at Happy Hollow Park and Zoo is quite good and made with fresh local Ingredients and “Seafood Watch” approved fish.
Some of the animals in the zoo include red panda, squirrel monkey, fox, alligator, parrots, meerkat, a jaguar, a Navajo sheep, and an anteater.
Parking is easy and admission is under $18 a person. The rides are based on height, usually 36-48 inches. There are some rides for all kids of any size. Happy Hollow Park is best for children 8 years and under. The Japanese Friendship Garden is a short walk.
