The Garrod Farm was a favorite attraction when I was a child and have enjoyed watching the five generations sustainably manage this land and contribute to the community. Vickie Garrod and I are high school classmates and she has generously hosted several memorable high school class reunions at the Farm. A Great venue.
Although I never met Great Grandpa, David, I did have the pleasure of knowing Vince and Jane, their son Jan, daughters Emma and Vickie, and now their children Trevor and Cory. The Farm is now shared with Cooper Garrod Winery.
In my heyday, I would jog the three miles from Saratoga Village up to the farm for horse riding lessons. The stables opened when I was 14 years old and has remained a local icon offering horseback riding, equestrian lessons, and summer camps. They are renowned for their vaulting program.
The farm has been family owned owned since 1893 with several of the Garrod’s are still living and working on the property. The Garrod family is a delightful piece of Saratoga history. All horse rentals, lessons, and camp are by reservation only.
