Fremont Older Open Space Preserve

Fremont Older Open Space Preserve is accessible from Prospect Avenue on the Saratoga/Cupertino border. The hikes are moderate, and the access is a short drive from Silicon Valley. Hunters point and Maisie’s peak have nice views toward San Francisco Bay and San Jose.

My daughter drops me off at the Fremont Older Open Space Preserve and picks me up over the hill at Steven Creek Park ranger station, via the Coyote Ridge Trail. As with most trails in these mountains, be on the lookout for the Northern Pacific rattlesnake in the summer. This area has also had sightings of many Coyotes and an occasional Mountain lion.

The Park borders Mount Eden Valley and Garrod Farm who generously donated part of their land to this Open Space District. Pedestrians, equestrians, bicycles, and dogs on leash are all allowed on designated trails.
