The Disney Family Museum is actually the “Walt” Disney Family Museum. I was five years old when Disneyland opened in Anaheim, California. The world of Disney has since fascinated children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren since those early days.
This is a spectacular museum and documents the life and inspirations of Walt Disney, his family, and his artists. I can’t go to this museum without feeling the emotions of the Disney influence on my life and the joy this man has brought to the entire entertainment industry.
It makes us older folks realize how quickly we grow up and how we were memorized by his movies and memorable characters. This museum will bring that childhood back to the surface while also passing the Disney legacy to young children.
The exhibits are touching and the insight into his life is precious. His very first full-length color feature film was Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs, staring Snow White, Sleepy, Grumpy, Dopey, Happy, Bashful, Sneezy, and the leader of the group….Doc. This movie set animation standards decades ahead of its time.
The Disney Family Museum is located at 104 Montgomery Street in the old Presidio military base, this is a must-see attraction for all ages. Admission is between $25 and $15 based on age. There are occasional special exhibits that cost extra. Open Thursday through Sunday by pre-registration on-line tickets only. Nearby is the famous Golden Gate Bridge that is best viewed in the afternoon.
