CuriOdyssey is a combination of a zoo, an education center, and a science museum. Years ago, when it was called Coyote Point Museum, it was a simple natural history museum, but over the years it has grown into a first-class family attraction.
I am very impressed by the current facilities and the future plans of this organization. The animals are up-close compared to larger zoos. They feature many California native animals like bobcats, fox, river otter, great horned owl, golden eagle, roadrunner, rattlesnake, and tarantula.
CuriOdyssey has a 4,000 square foot walk-in aviary with several dozen birds. Children learn about nature and the environment through playful activities and hands on experience. Summer camps are for kindergarten through 4th grade and there are advanced classes in animal training for high school and college students.
Reserved ticket prices are around $16 for adults and $13 for children over 18 months. Parking is $6. This is a wonderful experience for younger children with a well-trained and friendly staff. While you are there, visit the “Whooosh” playground, designed by the Magic Bridge Foundation. This playground is designed for children and adults of all abilities to play and interact with each other.
Nearby is the Hiller Aviation Museum.
