The trails around Baylands Park can be walked, but I recommend a bicycle. The park is a portion of the larger 300 mile-San Francisco Bay Trail that encircles the entire San Francisco Bay. There is abundant waterfowl along the wetlands and views of the famous Hanger 1 at Moffett Field Historical Society. Hanger 1 is so large that you could fit 6 NFL football fields inside.
This park has excellent outdoor facilities for large groups up to 350. They have real bathrooms, BBQ pits, picnic tables, plenty of parking, and large grassy areas. A small fee is seasonal otherwise there is no cost off season.
Note that your annual Santa Clara County park pass is not valid at this Santa Clara County Park as it is run by the City of Sunnyvale. Who knows why? Also, no pets, balloons, or kites.
If you plan to bird watch, I recommend binoculars or even better a sighting scope. The birds here are uniquely specific to the wetlands around Baylands Park except for Red-winged blackbirds and hawks which can be seen throughout Silicon Valley. Baylands Park can also be accessed by the San Thomas Aquino Creek Trail.
