Your visit to Silicon Valley is not complete without dropping by the home of Apple Computer, Apple Headquarters. This building known as the “Spaceship” is only accessible by employees, but you can go to the visitor center. Just knowing you are at the famous Apple “home base” is an adventure in itself.
Apple Headquarters is an attraction attended by visitor from all over the world. You can purchase Apple products at the visitor center store as well as many souvenir items that are only available at this location. The visitor center has an observation deck, but you really can’t see much of the campus. For that you will need to use their augmented realty tablet to understand what is inside the spaceship walls. There is also a café open to visitors with reasonably priced drinks and remarkable good food.
The neighbors watched this campus develop for more than a decade of planning, obtaining permits, and construction. It can handle 12,000 employees with all underground parking. The project itself cost around 5 billion dollars and covers 175 acres with 2.8 million square feet of buildings. Its solar panels on the roof generate 17 megawatts of electricity. Apple Headquarters is another must see when you visit Silicon Valley.
