The author’s end-goal is to improve your experience when you visit Silicon Valley and also to help you to find Bay Area restaurants and hotels.
He has hiked and explored the Santa Cruz mountains long before many of the trails or parks were established. Don Eagleston has a BFA from Rochester Institute of Technology and is certified in Environmental Planning and Ecotourism from Humboldt State University. His education also includes attending University of California Los Angeles as well as San Jose State University focusing on journalism and economics.
Don is certified in the California Main Street Program through the National Trust for Historic Preservation and was the Directing Manager of the Nation Park Visitor Center in Pacifica, President and CEO of the Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce in Sunnyvale, and President of the San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce Alliance.
He lectures on Sustainable principles, and is the exclusive author of “Developing an Ecotourism Plan in an Urban Environment”. Don believes that teaching urban residents about the great outdoors is a pragmatic and sustainable fit for the populated Bay Area as well as other urban sites throughout the world.
Don is a strong advocate of the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and the Peninsula Open Space Trust. Those three organizations have excelled in preserving and maintaining scenic and sensitive lands throughout Silicon Valley. Most all of their preserved lands are open to the public.
While operating the National Park Visitor Center in Pacifica, he authored many driving tours throughout California, prior to cell phones and GPS mapping.
His narrations about the attractions on this website will help you make the best choices when you visit Silicon Valley.
