Shoreline Amphitheater is a venue synonymous with promoter Bill Graham and the Grateful Dead’s Jerry Garcia. It was completed in 1986. They have 6,500 reserved seat and 16,000 lawn seats. If you can fork out a few extra dollars, I highly recommend the reserved seating. If you forget your binoculars, the lawn seats are supplemented by large video screens. Expect to drive slowly while getting in and out of the venue. There are only a few roads in and out. I love the giant parking lots once you get in. You’ll never have to walk too far to get to your car. The sound system at Shoreline is excellent, there are several bars to reduce your wait times, and more than ample restrooms. The sound is much better than going to a baseball or football stadium as this venue is only for concerts. It is a well-managed facility with tight security and very large “bouncers”. I recommend you always obey the bouncers. the nearby Sports Page Bar is a popular hang out before and after the concerts.

Overview:

Shoreline Amphitheater has the seating and sound to satisfy the best of musical acts. The Grateful Dead has played there 39 times. They offer beer, wine, mixed drinks, and food. It is located in Mountain View, California on an old landfill near one of the Google campuses. In the old days, small methane fires were known to ignite in the Shoreline lawn seating area. That has been fixed. There is a long list of famous performers that have chosen Shoreline including: Santana, Doobie Brothers, Dave Matthews, Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, and famous country western stars. Neil Young has performed 15 years of his annual Bridge Street Benefit concert hosting star such as Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Tom Petty, Elton John, and Bruce Springsteen. Advanced tickets are highly recommended.
